Email #58.

Aloha Everyone!

This is going to be a short email.  There is hardly anything worth mentioning this week.  It was a very “routine” week except for Katelyn arriving here to spend six days with us.  It has been such a pleasure to have her here with us since Thursday. It is at times like this that I think I could be happy to extend our mission for another six months—no problem.  But other times, when we are back in the grind, I am happy to only have four months left.  We did something yesterday that I thought I would never do, and it took Katelyn a fair amount of “encouragement” but in the end, we were so glad we did it.  We went ziplining and had a wonderful time.  It was unnerving to put my life in the “hands” of a strap hooked to a cable but it got easier as we progressed through the eight runs.  The views were incredible. The longest line was over a quarter of a mile long.  Our guides were funny, and the rest of the group was very pleasant.  We felt like tourists for a couple of hours. I learned that in “zipping”, it is to your advantage to have some weight on you.  One little girl in the group ahead of us stopped about 2/3 down the line.  She had to be rescued. Our guides told us that it was because she was small and didn’t weigh enough.  I made it just fine each time—haha.

We finished our last store (Goos) for yearly inventory on Wednesday.  It is the biggest store at the PCC. I have been dreading that day coming because last year was so long and tiring.  This year felt much easier even though I still worked nearly 10 hours that day. I was dreading having to count hats and that is the first thing my partner (Lilly) walked to when we began that morning.  At least it was only one rack of hats.  Last year I had to categorize hats by size and color before I could count them with limited space and not having access to any tables.  It was a laborious job and one I wasn’t looking forward to doing again.  Instead, we spend about three hours counting “name” key chains.  That took so long.  Oh well.  It’s done and I won’t ever have to do that again in my lifetime--hopefully.  I truly am grateful to help here in whatever way I am needed.  There are some jobs that are more pleasant than others.

We truly are so thankful to be here on a mission.  We are being blessed in many ways and we hope that you are receiving blessings as well.  You are in our thoughts and prayers daily.

Much love,

Sister Bleak, Mom, Grandma

How I have seen the hand of the Lord in my life this week:

*I was directed in a conversation with a student about questioning the church.

*We were again in awe at the beauty of this place as we drove around much of the Island.

*I felt impressed to talk to a certain missionary who might be able to help me find a story I was trying to locate.

*I didn’t die doing the zip line 😊.
